I’m an Obliger, and I Don’t Like It

The year leading up to my wedding, I remember running around like a chicken with my head cut off. Although my never-ending to-do list of preparations pressed on me constantly, it felt like I could never settle down to make any headway on it. Various commitments seemed to drain all my time and energy away, and when I got home I didn’t want to do anything except collapse on the couch with a frozen treat and a familiar show.
